[ i think it's funniest if they're at the selfie shop because jonas would not spend much time here. it's a new morning and it means he's off on an adventure to explore what might be new, checking into things and entering this shop. there is...so much happening here, frankly, that it's entirely possible jonas doesn't even realize there's somebody else in the store?

case in point, he's surrounded by bright orange telephones for some reason. ]

What...the hell is this? [ WHY. ]

this room is so bright. there is a lot going on here, and fei du, like a true gen zer, has his phone in his hand, absently taking a picture of the surroundings. when he spots jonas and his rightful confusion, he lifts his phone and mimes taking a picture. ]

They're backgrounds for people to post on social media - the idea is to capture a good picture of yourself in a different background instead of something normal. Drawing attention, and all of that jazz. A bit disorienting, huh?

[ glad fei du's a zoomer. jonas is a modern but he truly looks so baffled and annoyed by this concept for a hot second. ]

That's. One of the stupidest things I've ever heard. [ it's almost absurdly funny. ] I mean I get it, I've taken a lot of selfies, too, but this is a little overkill.

anyway. whew what a trial

after all of that, fei du can be found innnn the ikea. he's sitting in a chair tucked away a bit, a green jacket slung around his shoulders, and most importantly, there's very soft music playing from his phone that's sitting on his lap.

his eyes are closed, but, at least it doesn't look like he's asleep or anything! ]

[ the josh groban jumpscare, jesus. anyway, jonas is pretty sick of being in a small space like mcdonald's so ikea is...nice. nice? sure. it's spacious, at least, and it means he can wander to his heart's content and try to get his thoughts in order, but he stops in his movements when he recognizes a figure tucked away from the main path.

he's like. not sure if he's really dozing or not because he's too far away, but as he approaches he gets the sense fei du is really just vibing with his music. ]

You know...nine hours sounded like a good amount of time until we actually got into it.

[ tell me about it. he is definitely just vibing! eyes closed, lost in thought - though when jonas approaches and fei du realizes it, he pauses the music, and makes a soft noise, a humorless laugh. ]

Agreed. [ eugh. ] What a mess.

[ wherever fei du is in the museum, jonas will just step up next to him and take a look at whatever artifact, painting or display he's eyeballing. ]

This is...really not what I was expecting to open up to us after getting Selfie World.

[ he is standing in front of this painting, hands behind his back. what a sight to be staring at. whew. ]

It's a little macabre, but at least it's not updated as of yesterday...?

[ god i hope there's not a yang guifei exhibit. ]

[ he's sort of making a face at the painting, but it's ignorable. ]

Let's not give them any ideas after what happened with our souvenir photo from the end of the erasure.

[ assigns us as outside as well.

which is to say jonas...isn't doing well with just not doing anything at all. he's wandering, knowing he won't find anything new (but what if?) when he comes across fei du and gives him a little nod. ]

...another one. Even after last weekend's circus.

[ fei du's doing exactly the same thing - wandering around, looking at places that could be crime scenes. he's holding a cup of coffee in his hands, but it looks like it's still pretty full.

he returns the nod, though. ]

Mm. I have a feeling we're in for a long six weeks. [ ... ] How're you feeling?

week 1, sun

after all of that fei du's out here! he's at the park, sitting on a bench, holding a mug of something in his hands. occasionally, sparks flicker across his knuckles. he is absolutely still disassociating out of his fucking mind it's fine.

[ hm. well that's fine.

part of jonas thinks maybe he should keep walking and mind his own business, and to be honest he starts preparing to. but he doesn't think that will help either him or fei du, and so he doesn't. instead, he approaches the bench and stops in front of him. ]

Hey. Are you...good right now?

[ here we are at the diner, because there are milkshakes here. it means jonas is wandering in, but he redirects himself upon seeing fei du and has a seat. ]

Better than McDonald's at least?

The bar is extremely low, but yes, I think so.

[ hello hello! jonas gets a smile upon sight: fei du's got a milkshake in front of him and a cup of coffee off to the side. his emotions are very, very muted, but come up as a polite !! of recognition. ]

week 2, friday

[ FUCKING NOTIFS TOOK THIS FROM ME LAST NIGHT anyway friday evening jonas receives a text!! a screenshot of a message. ]

Bring them from different worlds. Erase worlds of those who fail to win. This will be a better system for the future.

[ and then, in an actual text from fei du ]

Per our conversation earlier this week.
There's the rhyme or reason.
I got it today, as did everyone else in my group from Thursday.

well that's not alarming and insane at all.

[ he seems to debate something...and then sends along a screenshot of a different message. ]

[ jonas walks into mime-a mia and almost walks right out, but. look. sometimes you are fucking sick of mcdonald's coffee and you want to try something new. so he enters and he orders a coffee, but while he's waiting he sees fei du either entering or exiting and greets him with a little nod. ]

I've heard of gimmick shops but this is pushing it, I think.

[ fei du has a coffee in his hand and is looking at the mime with a polite smile frozen on his face. it's the polite smile of someone who is looking at this mime like it is less interesting than a speck of dirt on the road but not showing it.

when he spots jonas, he looks down at his coffee, and then at him, looking just slightly relieved if still like "why" ]

... The coffee's good, but the atmosphere almost makes it not worth it.

w3, saturday

[ outside, the vibes are not much better than they were inside! which is to say jonas is pretty angry about what just happened and there's already a cigarette in his mouth as he glares into the void. ]

Two of them, and somehow we missed both. Incredible.

fei du's anger is cold and furious and this is no exception - his voice is very tight, jaw clenched. ]

We had to have missed something. Somewhere. I don't - why would people have voted for Hot Mess? Just because Gyuhyuk was belligerent?

[ today at the pegasus track, jonas is busy squinting at these winged horses dubiously. ]

...you know, I always thought these things weren't real? [ it's possible a pig will come barreling into them shortly, but he's so distracted he hasn't noticed yet. ]

[ fei du is also squinting at said winged horses.

it should be noted that he is wearing a fanny pack slung casually around his waist and also there is

a tiny duck's head sticking out of it. the duck is blue. don't worry about it. ]

...Well, I can't say I ever thought that people being cursed into frogs was real, either, so, our paradigm's made quite the shift. What is it they say? Seeing is believing?

[ hm...okay, well...he has sort of gotten the hang of this by now, so he concentrates while he's at the park to see if he can reach fei du? ]

[ he sure can!!

there's just a voice, at first - ]

Oh, Jonas.

[ - but then it shifts into a slightly distorted image. fei du is no longer a maid, but in a suit! and he can see just a flash of the background behind him! it is not a park, but instead, what looks like the inside of a hotel room. ]

Seems like the dust has settled over there. How're you?
