That long, huh? [ he doesn't seem opposed, almost tentatively at ease with the idea. ] It's been a little while for me, too, before all this but weirdly easy to get back into.
[ it's a joke. but he sips his own coffee and listens, frowning in thought to himself. ]
Ruby was telling me it'd be like this every week, so that doesn't surprise me much either. If there was a pattern, we'd be able to know ahead of time and that probably takes the fun out of it for the game master or whoever is out there.
I'll do my best. [ in all things. ] You think so? I mean...yeah, there were places last week that were better than the week before, and I can't say I'm not happy with some stuff we got this week. But is it improving? Or are we lowering our standards?
It's pretty effective, you know? Make it so we aren't expecting much and the scraps they give us are the highlight of our week. It's a little funny. [ but without thinking, he is already walking toward the theater. ]
Maybe this entire thing is a conditioning exercise.
[ fei du chuckles at the thought, following easily! to the theater. ]
After all, since the very beginning, there's been attempts to tempt us into violent behavior, considering the rules and our Thursdays, like we're mice in Skinner's box. Add in the scraps of a nice meal in a restaurant, or a fun little movie theater... really, it wouldn't be all that surprising. Not only that, but we're starting to fall into something of a routine, here - systemically desensitized to the realities of our Saturdays, even if they're still awful, so we play along. People can be easy to control, for someone in the right sadistic mindset.
[ so casually.... like he is talking about the weather....... ]
It definitely feels that way, sure. So you have to wonder what's the point? And wonder how many of us have fallen into that pattern without even really thinking about it.
It's possibly all three, if you think about it. [ but he sips his coffee in thought. ] We just have to keep everybody vigilant as best as we can. It's the only way we're going to stay on top of things.

[ a tease for a tease, there.
but, he nods along to that. ] Means we might as well take what we get and enjoy the speed bumps come, hmm? In my opinion, the places are improving.

Entertainment? Experimentation? A test of the human spirit? Who knows.
