[ fei du's doing exactly the same thing - wandering around, looking at places that could be crime scenes. he's holding a cup of coffee in his hands, but it looks like it's still pretty full.
he returns the nod, though. ]
Mm. I have a feeling we're in for a long six weeks. [ ... ] How're you feeling?
I think I've mostly just settled on mad, at this point. [ it's complicated. ] We all knew this was going to happen. But it's like...there's really only a few people that would've been even worse choices.
Rin was a good kid. He asked me last week if I would help him learn how to be more helpful at these trials, because he was frustrated with not knowing how to do anything.
[ and he was a little attached. ]
... These sort of crimes can touch anyone in the regular world, let alone here. The motivation as always what we'll have to find. No 'someone looking for an honorable fight', this time.
Yeah, I kind of got the feeling this sort of stuff was really out of his league. [ they never really talked about this, specifically, but jonas got enough of a sense of what kind of person rin was. ]
I've been thinking it's way too possible it's someone who saw an easy target and took it, and somehow that's even worse than the honorable fight stuff. It's not like Rin was ever going to hurt anybody himself.
...unlikely, sure, but it's not impossible. Even the best swimmers could drown if they're caught by surprise. We're really not going to know until we look at his body to see if he had any other injuries, but I don't think we can rule it out yet either.
[ a little smile. you're so smart jonas ] Not to mention, there's the chance of foul play - any sort of incapacitation could've changed the outcome easily. We should look for signs of that, too.
You mean like someone actually hitting him first to knock him out and then drag his body to the lake? That's true, too. [ he's frowning in thought. ] So far I've only heard about people finding stuff at the lake where he was and what we found at the warehouse. I don't know about anything else yet.
Mm - that's possible, but... I was thinking more along the lines of something to do with our psychs. There are a lot of ways they could be creatively utilized - some that might not even leave much physical damage. We'll have to keep an eye out.
[ fei du nods along about the description, too, looking thoughtful. ]
Gerard mentioned the Ikea, too. We have a start point of the tower, and the end point of the lake. It's at least a start.
True. And there's the way we don't actually know how much people are capable of. If they were practicing or not. [ frown. ] Rin's was psychokinesis. He used it on me when we were decorating our warehouses, so he was at least working on it.
[ he frowns. ]
IKEA? That's pretty far out of the way, too. Did he say what they found there at all?

[ which is callous, but like. damn. he was like twelve. ]
I'm curious to know how he ended up in the lake. It's unlikely he just drowned there.
[ considering... he's a free. ]
