[ the park is kind of maybe a little bit of a weird place to be after rin died, but to avoid an entire place also seems a little weird. it's why jonas is here, and he's falling into step with wenzhou pretty easily as they walk the perimeter. ]
Who knew it'd be sheer luck that'd save us yesterday?
[ wenzhou, at least, is avoiding the lake. but he's not about to avoid the place entirely, because... yeah. it would be a little weird. ]
Sometimes that's what does it. Sheer luck. It borders a fine line with stupidity. [ that's why dumb luck is a thing. ] I don't want to think about the case where we don't get lucky.
Then we need to really start getting better at this. Yesterday was somehow even worse than the week before, and that was even with some of the BDSM members practically telling us they were responsible for it.
The fun game of "is this a confession, or is this someone framing them for a crime."
[ he rubs a thumb against his brow, tired. ]
It'd help if we had forensic equipment. We have some of the procedures figured out, for the way this place works, but it wouldn't hurt to tighten them up more.
With the whole rule about not being able to tell before the final verdict, too, it's going to make for some fun workarounds people will undoubtedly try.
[ uggggggh. ]
Do you think we're ever going to get anything like that? I know people have asked the reapers, but maybe they just said no because it's so early in the competition.
Oh, definitely. People try to work their way around their crimes already. Now this?
[ UGGGGGGH yeah ]
When I was talking to Aika, the first trial, she made it sound like it was something that we could have in the future. But when I asked her this time, all she gave me were the food safety gloves from the back. No condescending no comment.
They always know who the culprit is and how things have gone on Thursdays, I think. Could be that she thought we really didn't need them at the time. I wonder if it'd change if there was a case that required more...uh...finesse? Whatever you want to call it.
... maybe. I'll have to ask them about that, because it has some logic behind it that would probably fit with the way things are run here. [ hateful ] Finesse is a good way to put it, though. It'd be worth knowing if we could have a little more help then.
Yeah...I've been starting to find that everything that could possibly be a stupid explanation is probably closer to how things work. [ which is exhausting. he hates this. ] I agree though. Since it's...pretty obvious by now that we're going to keep going this, at least having an idea of what we may get in the future isn't terrible. It'd at least save us a little time each week from asking and being told no.
