Ghosts just seem to happen, hm?

I wasn't even sure I believed they were real up until that point, but...yeah. Ghosts just seem to happen. [ ... ] At least we're not ghosts, here. The shadow people around us aren't really either.

[factoring]

So what exactly are we? And what are they?

[westedge]

Uh...we're dead souls and they're like living people on a different plane. Since we're in the UG, there's like...a disconnect? I guess. Between the two of them. The reapers implied they had to do some stuff to even get the employees here to acknowledge us.

[factoring]

[ Sips on her horrible coffee and considers this. ]

Dead souls don't count as ghosts for the purposes of the game. But I think I understand well enough.

[westedge]

At least one of us does. [ a joke. ] It's a little hard to really accept since our bodies are obviously sort of here even if they aren't real, so we're at a weird in-between. But if something happens to us, we're pretty much banished.

[ like ghosts. but they aren't ghosts, so. ]

It's my first time dying, but it's all strange to think about.

[Something in between the binary of alive and dead. It's not all ones and zeroes during the Game.]

Ghosts can peacefully move on, but that doesn't seem like much of an option for us.

Right? It is. I feel like I should be more freaked out, and maybe I am but like in shock because it doesn't really register? I don't know.

[ but she raises a good point. ]

You think it's possible something...non-peaceful will happen to us if we're erased?

[factoring]

"You are permitted to erase one another on Thursday nights"... really doesn't seem peaceful to me.

Oh. Yeah, that part. [ he wasn't sure if she meant something else, honestly. ] Makes you wonder what that means. If it's like...you can just do it, or if the person can fight back or what. Since it's a competition.

[factoring]

I don't know for certain, but it seems like they should be able to fight back. It doesn't say anything about the aggressor getting an advantage.

[westedge]

There's also the part where there's forty of us. Don't you think if someone erased somebody else at least one of us would notice something?

[factoring]

The city is big, but we only have limited access to it. The real grounds for this game isn't huge. Even if somebody was alone when they're attacked, an unrelated should be able to hear the commotion.

[westedge]

Yeah, that's exactly what I'm saying. It's a huge risk to pull when anybody could turn around and catch on before you can even get away from the scene.

[factoring]

It's hard to know the parameters when we've only just begun.

[Just waiting for something to happen makes her feel restless, but there's so little planning she can do like this.]

Even harder when we can't even figure out what to ask in a way the reapers can give us actual answers. [ which...ugh. he's not a fan of waiting either, but. ] At this rate...the only way we're really going to find out is if someone decides to act sooner than later.

[factoring]

Thursday will come quickly enough.

[Answers will come flooding in then.]

Three days from now. [ too quickly. ] ...let's see if we can come up with anything else to keep an eye on before then. It might not be a bad idea.

[factoring]

I don't know enough about everyone here to tell if they're being suspicious or not.

An option is to spread out and cover as much ground as possible. That does run the risk of being vulnerable to an attack. [ So maybe teams should pair up in twos while they're still able to do that ]

[westedge]

City's not too big right now, but if what they're saying is true that's going to change. There has to be a way to spread out without being too isolated. [ buddy system. ] Unless you get really good at using your psych to deflect anything that might come after you.

[factoring]

Go with one or your teammates. You'll be safer together than apart.

[ Her psych. Ah. ]

Something to practice over the coming days.

Alex and I always explore together. [ so...easy enough, he thinks. ]

Some of them seem like they might be harder to practice than others, so...we'll see how that goes.

[factoring]

Hopefully people don't go getting injured on a regular basis.

You could always test your abilities and just give people like...papercuts or something. Those are annoying.
