Th-they're pretty hard to forget when they're right there in front of you, yeah...
[ sweats... ANYWAY ]
Oh, uh. Well, Money's my main partner, but I've also done some stuff with the tiger — his name's Regent — and Astique the elephant! And then there's, like, a pig and some cats and birds and stuff, but they don't really have big show roles.
Huh. [ huh! ] Nothing wrong with that. It's just...I've never met anyone who really wanted to work in a circus. I kind of thought it was one of those things that happened by coincidence.
I mean, it's not like it was my lifelong dream either. But I didn't really have any qualifications for any normal jobs, and I didn't have anything tying me down to one place, so moving around with a traveling circus and helping out in the background didn't sound too bad.
I, uh, kind of just got pulled into the actual animal taming and performing part... but, you know, it's still better than retail. A-and anyway, most of the people and animals there are pretty nice to work with.
[ though it'd be nice if that rude ventriloquist's dummy would stop making fun of him... ]
I kind of feel like qualifications for a circus would be a lot harder than for a normal job? [ unless he has grossly been misunderstanding how circuses work. ]
But that sounds like a good benefit at least? Seeing the world, getting to do something interesting all the time instead of the same boring stuff...when you put it that way it sounds a little better than some things. [ but. he hears that. ] Most?
I dunno, you don't really need a college degree to clean up after an elephant.
[ there are plenty of menial circus tasks offstage. ]
Oh, um... well, there's this magician who's kind of full of himself, but he's also the biggest star we have... And there's this weird ventriloquist guy who's always like, using his dummy to say rude stuff to people?
But they're both in different divisions from me, so I don't actually work that closely with them.
[ to be fair, jonas thinks he'd probably do similar if he had a dummy but he won't say so. ]
That probably helps to have that little bit of separation, too. I don't know if I could stand working that close with people that drove me crazy. And like...you know. As long as you're happy with it.
[ there's a noise of agreement like "there you go." give him a bit to glance at a collection of dino bones though. ]
Yeah. I'm going back in the fall for my last year and then...I don't know what's after that. Haven't really decided much. I mean not that it matters now since we're here but before that I hadn't decided much.
It's weird, isn't it? We're all sort of just...doing exactly what we were doing before. Sleeping, eating, wandering around, shopping sometimes...except sometimes we have to deal with weird things like barriers and missions popping up. It doesn't make sense to me sometimes.

Don't tell them, but I actually kind of like tigers better. [ haha. ] But they are big cats? With big teeth. And claws. Can't forget those.
[ he realizes he hasn't ever really asked, so. ]
What else have you worked with in your circus though? I've never really been to one.

That's still kind of a lot to be juggling all at once. But I guess that explains why the monkey's here with you. How long have you been doing this?
no subject
Mmm... a little less than a year? And I've been working with Money for about six months.
I'm still kind of like the circus equivalent of an intern, I guess.

[ the dead part. he probably DID do the circus thing for the rest of his life.
he sighs. ]
I feel like it's actually harder to remember the longer I'm here 'cause it just feels pretty much the same as being alive...
