That's absolutely it. [ it is not. but...good question, indeed. ]

I think...probably? Ruby said we'd be getting access to new places the longer we'd be here, and there were places the reapers can go we can't. So you have to think that they're established. I just don't get why.

Alex talked about us being on “different frequencies” or something. Which might explain why the figures we see don’t look like anything and can’t touch us.

Wonder if we’re just being thrown into actual locations on that different frequency. Maybe they’re connected somehow?

...that's possible. [ he will have to talk to alex about that now. ] The reapers mentioned they did a few things in order to bring in the people we can actually talk to at the stores and stuff. So if it's about tuning in and being on frequencies that might explain a few different things.

Like… something happens when we enter a building to bring us on the same frequency as the store and staff?

Probably easier to isolate it to one location at a time, like a fast food restaurant or an IKEA. Rather than having that frequency thing happening randomly all over the city.

That must mean they can switch it off too. Pretty sure we’d have been banned from McDonalds for half the crap we pulled on Saturday, plus having a corpse just lying there on a table.

Yeah, I thought it was kind of weird it was just us after a while. [ this is all getting too technical and over his head, but he is putting thought into it. slowly but surely. ]

The reapers didn't say what, exactly, they did to make it so some people could see us. But I didn't think about being able to turn it on and off whenever they wanted. You'd probably have to on Thursdays too, wouldn't you? Otherwise...

[ otherwise other people would probably witness a wholeass murder. ]

It seems to only apply to us when we're in stores, but yeah. They must be able to manipulate at at will to prevent too much confusion between where we are and where everyone else is on Thursdays -- if anyone was out and about and we were on the same frequency then they could get hurt too.

And on Saturdays as well. Maybe Fridays. All times where the cases are involved.

Not to mention the missions if we start doing those around the city, too. So...pretty much every day of the week except for maybe Monday and Tuesday? [ hm. wait. ] Maybe our souls are messed up instead.

Or maybe this place is just really good at messing with our souls.

You think they're not entirely the same as they were when we got here? We don't...remember anything about how we got here or how we died. It's possible that means someone already meddled where we wouldn't have wanted them to.

I meant more like.... they're moving our souls between frequencies, but maybe they do have to mess with them to get us to this point.

You're not wrong about us not remembering stuff. Sorry to say, they've definitely done something.

I tried asking Ruby about the whole...not remembering how we died thing. She said it wasn't uncommon and that some people can remember but others might now. Maybe that's true, but for it to happen to forty people in the exact same way is way, way too suspicious. Even if it's not the reapers specifically but somebody above them.

Wonder if some people just have more of an affinity for it. But I’m not sure I’d want to remember how I died.

Yeah, like they might remember over time or something like that. It's possible that some people have more of an affinity for it, but...then what causes that? [ he ponders on this briefly. ]

...I think I might want to though. Just so there's no mystery behind it. But maybe some things are better left unanswered.

Like typical amnesia, you mean. It just comes back with time. [ but… eeehhhh. ] Higher IQ? Less mental trauma? It’s not like you can measure it clearly.

Guess it depends on how traumatic it was. A level you can cope with, or something a lot worse.

Shu, do you have any idea what might've happened to caused you to come here? Like...some of us were in certain situations that it could make sense. Is it like that for you?
