[ wandering aimlessly...probably on his third cigarette of the day...he eventually runs into mizuki. ]

...there was always a high chance of one of us on those missions dying. Seems a little unfair it was two of the people from ours.

No. I should, but I can't. But I can blame people for going after two very obviously injured people instead.

When there's healers around, no one's gonna think about that...

Fair point. At least we didn't lose more healers this week. Just people who could use it. [ ugh. ] I don't know. I'm still gonna choose to be really pissed, I guess.

I think you have a right to be. I'm not happy, either.

Did you at least fully remember her by the time curfew hit last night?

I'mmmmm gonna take that as a "not really."

Enough to still be sad about what's going on though?

I'm still annoyed by it all. I mean... when is someone getting murdered a good thing?

Literally never, but I'm getting the sense a lot of us are getting desensitized by it whether we want to or not.

Pretty sure I got desensitized a long time ago.

Not the best place to be in, but...things have been messy for a long time. Actions and consequences and stuff like that.

[ She gives him a look, like maybe she's debating on correcting him a little on something, but: ]

Yep. Messy. That's probably the point of all this, anyway.

[ ...raising an eyebrow? she may as well say it. ]

There are a lot of points to be made here, is the thing. And I'm not even sure we know all of them either.

And I'm growing too tired to dig for them all, too.

Then...don't. [ he's not sure what else to say to that. ] It's gonna be the same as always, Mizuki. Either help, or don't. I don't know if anybody's forcing anybody anymore either.

Nobody's forcing anyone, but what good is doing nothing supposed to do?

It won't. But you can't always trust that people will do the right thing either.

Are you implying something?

Not about you if that's what you're thinking. It's more of an "in general" sort of thing.

... All right. Well—I'm gonna keep going, even if I'm too damn tired for this. Honestly, doing nothing is the worse option here.

Doing nothing is usually the worse option. [ he can agree...even if something in his tone says it may not always be like that. ] We'll see if we can keep everyone else on track, too.
