[ oh. he can't help but grin a little, but it's awkward and uncertain and also a little, hm, wry. ]
You think so? [ he does not dispute it, but he does not agree with it either. instead, he's glancing around at the paintings on the walls surrounding them. ]
It is...so, so much stuff. And I'm really hoping this week's mission isn't some kind of history quiz about all of these displays. How's anybody supposed to remember most of this anyway?
Yeah! They're total geniuses. They could memorize all this in their sleep. [ she's clearly gassing them up, but in a fond way.
... ]
Technically, I've known them as long as you have. [ just, spent a bit more time together is all. but that isn't to say she knows them perfectly well. ]
But I like my team just fine. Are you getting along with yours?
Sounds terrifying. [ a joke. but smart people are...definitely a league of their own. when she expresses that sentiment though there's a little grin. ] Some people say that the amount of time isn't really as important as what you experience with those people, you know.
[ he thinks about his team, and there's a grin of his own. ]
...Alex and I took a while to really think about who we wanted to partner with. And Setsu and Kazuki were the best choices. Kind of worked out they felt the same way about us? So yeah, I'd say we're getting along pretty well which is both surprising and...kinda not.
It wasn't anything, like, strategic. We wanted somebody who'd be willing to work with both of us and that both of us actually liked. We could've compromised and picked one person each but...it probably wouldn't have worked out as well. There were a few traits I know I was looking for that I knew Alex would agree on. We weren't interested in people who wouldn't take this seriously. And she was probably looking for people we could both be friends with and not just teammates.
The place we're from is pretty...you know. Normal, for the most part. So that's at least part of it from what I can guess. [ it's also about all he offers as his gaze follows hers. ]
Aren't all teams out to win? Seems ill-advised if somebody's just coasting.
Good to see you're sensible. [ there's a little bit of relief in hearing her say that. ] With how the game's designed, we're all gonna have our hands forced one way or another. The most we can do now is prepare for it, somehow. That's probably the hardest part for some people.
The reapers told us we're here for at least seven weeks. The only way it'd end sooner is if everyone was erased before then, but I get the feeling that's really unlikely. The other thing is that the longer it takes, the more likely people will be desperate just to get through this to the end.
[ losing those attachments and wanting to get out to escape that loss, really. ]
But instead of anything that might make it easier to figure out...we get a museum.
That's absolutely what it is. It's a secret mission to find the clues ourselves. [ dry. ] ...we could go, if you want. Just to see what else is here. Maybe we really will figure out something.
[ there's only a slight noise of surprise before onward they go!! i hate to say it but he is so used to semi-weird girls dragging him around that he really does just follow along. which is to say omo if you would like we can handwave that they did this and wrap the thread and pick up something new soon since it is sunday, you tell me ♥ ]

she laughs. ]
You're the 'charmingly honest' type, too.
[ ... ]
I don't blame you though. It's a maze in here, and also, there's so much... stuff. Even my brain can only fit so much information before it gives up.
[ and also half of that information is totally wrong, alternative facts. ]

You're honest about the museum, at least.
[ he doesn't quite give her ylfa or amelia or livio vibes, no. ]
...You know, that wouldn't be so bad. I've got two [ nerds (affectionate) ] academics on my team.

You think they'd have enough time to study all of this? I can't say I know your team all that well yet.

Sounds like a good crew. What was the criteria you and Alex decided on, if you're willing to say?

[ she pauses, looks back to the exhibit—something about cooking utensils from the stone ages. ]
When you say taking the game seriously... Do you mean your team's out to win? [ no matter what it takes. ]

[ ... ] Not everyone's willing to make sacrifices for victory.

Do you think someone can still be victorious without those sacrifices?

Well, it's not exactly normal to have to make these sorts of decisions. [ she gets why some people are resistant to the idea. ]
And the longer it takes, the more difficult it'll inevitably become. [ becoming attached to people, and losing them. ]
