[ he's being careful with how he replies, mostly because he wants to make sure he's understanding well enough. ]
Only acting when you think it's necessary instead of wasting time and energy on something that won't matter in the longrun. If you're able to pick and choose what you're reacting to and how, it's easier to get the point across and let people decide how to perceive it instead of bothering to explain it yourself.
[ there's a brief blip of surprise himself, but it kind of bleeds into something akin to "yeah this may as well happen", and some sort of acceptance. ]
...that does help, yeah. It makes more sense for you to only focus on what you can factually work through and be pragmatic about because emotions and personal feelings get complicated. [ at least that's his understanding of it.
there's also the tiniest flicker of amusement. ]
This does kind of shed some new light on our past conversations though.
[ he tilts his head in thought, weighing those words carefully. ]
Considering emotions might get the better of us when things like this happen? I don't know if I can blame you. [ it's not exactly a bad way either, even if he's constantly confused by his own state of emotions. ] We probably need more logical people but...what do you even count as messy in this case?
I'll phrase it this way: there are two types of humans I tolerate. The first is the type that never gives up no matter what, but just does whatever they can without being all gung ho about it. Basically, someone who tries to do the best they can all on their own. The other is the type that scrambles about, trying to turn every hopeless situation around, until everyone in their vicinity is caught up in it.
I prefer the former over the latter because it's less messy.
[ so it's not that emotions can't come into play. it's how someone approaches a situation with those emotions. ]
The former being someone who has a driving motivation and can use their feelings to push forward and do everything they can, and the latter being someone who uses their emotions to appeal to other people to fix things.
[ he wonders if he's even either of those kinds of people, but it makes sense to him. ]
Do you think things can get done with both types of people involved? Or is one more efficient than the other outside of "being messy"?
[ jonas could very well be, as a ty character, but lambda doesn't know this.
she gives a light shrug, though her emotions shift to something pensive, as if she's giving it more serious thought than what her body language suggests. ]
If they can work together, I'd consider it an eventual success. But they both have their drawbacks. The first type doesn't ask for help as much.
[ and now she'll never find out because YOU'RE DEAD.
but hm...he patiently waits for an answer, giving her time to think over what she'd like to say. ]
And the second type tends to rely on people a little too much and hold back from offering their own insights. Drawbacks, yeah. [ but he frowns at that. ] We have both types here. So we'll have to see what happens.
There hasn't been enough time to really get to know each other, even if we're on the same team. Everyone kind of had to pick really fast, so it's not like we could've done a personality assessment or something. I think there's bound to be some people who get along better than others, or people who can figure out workarounds, but...that's not for everyone.
[ he thinks he and his team get along decently well, but he's heard enough stories to think otherwise about other people. ]
[ there's a little ripple of a amusement. doing a personality assessment like there aren't enough who don't want the mortifying ordeal of being known. ]
It's how people connect and if people want to connect.
[ this includes jonas, who does not want at all to be known unless it's on his terms. ]
And then there's the people who want to connect with people who don't want the same thing. [ understandable. but...ah. there it is. this is what he had been wondering, and there's a flicker of curiosity. ]

Something to that effect?

If I come off as cold or callous to others, I am only behaving the way I think is most logical.
[ she doesn't mind being viewed that way. ]
Emotions have a place, and emotions are what give us depth, but I don't like to be messy.

As long as there's common ground, it could work out, but with this team set up....
