So it seems. [ it's been on his mind a lot recently. ] But you're going to have at least nine other teams to beat. What do you think your chances are right now?
[ ah. this is how this is going. he'll just...calm down and keep his tone level. ]
It kind of matters. The only way to get out of this is playing by their rules, as much as they suck. You have to have a team or you can't play. So...try to think about that.
Most of us don't know anyone here. And even those of us who know one or two people still have to figure out a way to fill the voids. Have you had a chance to talk to anybody since we got here?
Of course not. That's not what I mean. But it's at least a good way to see if you might be able to get along with them or if they have the same goals and ideas in mind that you do. You don't want to be with someone who doesn't agree with you right off the bat, right?
I've got one person I'm working with. We're still talking about options for two other people and haven't settled on anything yet. We've narrowed it down a little, but we're taking another day or two to talk to people again.
It's really important to me that she gets back. [ so. yes. he will stretch himself thin and deal with social anxiety to talk to people enough to get a vibecheck to find what's best. ] Ideally? Another idealist and another realist wouldn't be the worst combination. It should be people who're willing to hear out idea but isn't afraid to call bullcrap on some of the others that're presented as a team. Different psychs would be nice but that's less important to me than people willing to pull their own weight and keep their goals in sight. I'm not interested in messing around or dealing with people who aren't motivated to keep going without prompting.
[ she says that and he looks mildly embarrassed for a second. ]
Nah, I...just have goals. Makes it easier to know what I want from this. [ but it'll probably come up anyway, so: ] Her name's Alex. You'll probably see her around sooner or later if you haven't. Red jacket, blue hair. She's pretty friendly with people.
Oh. [ oh. he looks a little baffled before he shakes his head. ] Oh, no. We're just friends. I meant we were literally on a boat together before waking up here.

Guess that just means we'll have to win it, then.

No. But that doesn't matter! I can even do this alone if I have to.

Of course I have! But just talking to someone doesn't make them a good teammate.

It's not like I've got a choice, anyway.
You figure anything out for your team yet?

We are both talking about dating, right? You're like, together together, not just physically here together?

A boat, huh. Not the worst place for a date.
