I’d love to know who I pissed off. Or if they just thought I was convenient to get rid of.
[ he shrugs. ]
Although whoever it was was probably involved with… I don’t want to say Fukuzawa’s murder, because as far as I know it was a mutual kill. It’s not like I can call him or Zelda and ask them if they took my pin.
But we don’t know who killed Shen, so maybe it was his killer.
At the very least they thought you'd be easy to frame because you're the only umbra user we have left. It seems bizarre though since as far as I could tell you haven't exactly been making enemies here.
[ thinking this over... ]
I'm still not convinced that Fukuzawa and Zelda was a mutual kill, but I got lost on the bubble theory. Especially since nothing really tied back to Shen Qingqiu, so I'd wondered if someone went after him and Fukuzawa. Which also doesn't make sense. But they found the pin up at the waterfall right? I guess the question becomes "why try to frame you for that particular case"?
I would’ve thought it’d be stupid to frame a single psych user, because we’re the least likely to obviously use our psychs. It’d more more sense to frame someone with a lot of potential users, who is more likely to feel comfortable using the psych in the first place.
[ no offence to drift aura user jonas, one of like eight still standing. ]
… Yeah, I’m just stuck on how they both got all the way down from the clouds. It’s very specific that he landed directly in an open grave. Although I do think one of the killers is dead, and it’s likely Fukuzawa because of his injuries from Zelda’s sword. [ there’s no judgement in his voice though. ] Dunno, maybe because I voted for Justice last week? Chances are it got back to someone. But if you’re gonna be mad at people for misvoting last week, all our heads would be on pikes.
Do you think Shen just… fell? His bones were badly broken, weren’t they? Clouds aren’t the safest thing to just stand on.
We did think umbra might've been used until we realized it was just that the lights were turned off. [ dry. ] Even if it wasn't to frame you specifically it did cause us to get distracted for a while. But no, I guess you have a point on that one.
I've been wondering that, too. An open grave in a totally different district, even, is where I'm lost. I don't think our hint was a lie and I do think Fukuzawa is the dead killer. Seems like a stupid reason to try to take you out though. We were all obviously very wrong.
[ ... ]
Do you think it's possible somebody just pushed him out of the weather factory? What I'm really stuck on is how he went from there to IKEA. That's...a pretty substantial distance. How did he get from there to there without any sort of bigger evidence?
I do wonder if there’s other ways to use psychs you shouldn’t have access to here. Not the app, that shows up if you change your element, but we all have team psychs we’re not talking about. [ and he’s not going to talk about but… it’s good to remember they’re there. ]
The points you get for killing and getting away with it are probably pretty high. Might as well go all in and try to have someone else take the fall for the extra points. It’s a game we’re playing here, after all. High stakes as hell, but a game nonetheless. And it’s looking more and more like there isn’t a loophole out of here.
[ … ]
Psychokinesis. Maybe.
Edited (what the fuck was i trying to say) 2023-07-17 09:58 (UTC)
I talked to Kiichi about this once...he said in his game they were able to just, like, buy whatever psychs they wanted. Which is completely unfair by the way. [ ... ] The team psychs throw a wrench into everything. Nobody wants to share what theirs are, and for good reason.
But I can't say that's wrong. I get that that's how we're supposed to play, even if the game sucks. I was hoping for a different route, but we're getting to the point where, uh, straits are dire.
[ ... ]
You mean like puppeting the whole body with Psychokinesis?
Yeah, I don't blame anyone. Kinda stuck either way though -- if something happens that doesn't make sense it's either someone being clever or a team psych we have no way of guessing. Like what happened in trial, I guess. We had no clue how some things were done.
Pretty much. [ ... ] I'm not saying people have to agree or be okay with it, but at this point making this an us versus them situation isn't helping. [ he has some... opinions but also no interest in speaking them out loud when people are as emotional as they are. ]
Mm. Any reason why that couldn't have been the case?
Maybe somebody's got a team psych that lets you pickpocket stuff. [ it's a joke. ] But we have no clue and it's going to open up a lot more questions if we ever do figure stuff out.
[ thinking on this. ]
...what do you think people should be doing then, Shu? If we had a real option. [ to the last, he frowns. ] I don;t think there's a reason that couldn't be the case, other than the only people to have Psychokinesis left are Hot Mess and Justice.
I mean, you joke. But it’d add up wouldn’t it? [ did tbd murder points gun ]
If there’s a team psych that lets you use your teammates psychs whether alive or dead, then we’re in for an interesting time. [ … ] I don’t know. We’re in a problem zone where no one wants anyone to die, but people who have two people left might choose to get involved and then what? Do you vote someone innocent to keep more people “alive” or do you vote for the killer and live with the fact you wiped a whole team out?
[ shit isn’t easy. everyone deserves the truth, but what’s “right” isn’t clear cut now. ]
I think it's very much a possibility. We can't necessarily prove it, but I do think without knowing what is available it's possible.
...I hadn't thought of that one either. And that makes it even worse because it opens up way too many options. [ ...there's a frown to that though. ] It's not an easy option. People are going to pick whatever their conscious can live with. And that's not even accounting people's personal biases or what else might actually be happening.
[ ... ]
You've seen all of the messages floating around by now, haven't you?
It's something to keep in mind either way. If it seems completely out of left field, it could be that there's a team psych in play. We had bullets we couldn't account for, didn't we?
Personal biases are fine, but they might be what screws everyone over if someone's goal is "everyone gets to go home, safe and sound".
[ me thinking about how we keep leaving tbd alone, and how i fully support this. ]
I thought about that. I had thought somebody just lied about having them at all, but if a psych can manifest ammo or weapons...we're all in trouble.
...trust me, Shu, I've thought about it a lot. [ he is so aware that his team is the only team with four people left and that thought is so fucking scary, thanks! ]
I could just be that they lied, but— it’s that balance of we might need to start ruling out mundane or not as we go along, but how? There’s already so much happening in a weekend as is.
… Yeah. I imagine you have. [ tbd being the only team with four people left is a big “phew” and also “oh no” to all of them, shu included. those are their lil skrunkly teens. ]
Untranslated ones? The ones I saw were translated. [ as of yesterday he’s seen an untranslated one though. wow. ]
And it'll only be worse with multiple bodies if that keeps happening, too. [ he does not address the fact he is extremely worried about what things mean for his team. nobody needs to know that he's nervous someone will come after them just because they're all still alive. nobody needs to know he's scared he won't be able to save them. it's fine. ]
But they used to be all scrambled, right? [ ...in laymens terms. ] I want to make sure you've heard about all of the messages that people have been getting after their special missions so far.
[ truly, i hope they drift all the way to the end. or. y’know, drift and electrocute. ]
There’s a chance people will start trying to gather points. So… maybe, yes. I imagine things will be more and more complicated going from here.
I didn’t hear about last week’s, but I know there have been some. I got one as well the previous week. [ … ] The other messages were like stories. It was kinda weird, but I get the impression it’s something we should be keeping as far under our hats as we can.
[ i would love to see all four of them live, very sexy of them. ]
Since we know points can bring people back, I don't doubt it. Either by acting or by voting.
[ but...hum. ]
Here, take a look at this but keep it to yourself.
[ and he pulls out his phone to show shu a note in the notes app. ]
normally when players are erased, they are, for all intents and purposes, gone. kept around on some frequency, maybe, but less tangible or aware than even folktale ghosts.
which, of course, means that having them conscious elsewhere is very much not normal game protocol. not exactly against the rules, but those running the game wouldn't be pleased to find out. so, it s important to hide this from them, and to err on the side of caution when discussing anything that seems out of place.
after all, playing by their rules is unavoidable, and the only thing preventing any retaliation on their part is whether or not they feel it's worth the effort by that point. nothing is gained by blatantly defying them--even if it might be tempting to, with all the anomalies in this iteration of the reaper's game.
I'm not even exactly sure how many people know this right now. I'm making rounds, and I think other people are, too. But I found out some people have been behind in learning the messages so it doesn't hurt to double check. Just so we aren't accidentally ruining something.
Seems about right. [ no judgment, just facts. ] I'd like to consider them friends, almost. So it means I'd like to keep them as updated as I can to see what they might know. It's just harder when it's a lot of stuff we have to talk around.
