Hasn’t everyone at some point? [ maybe not in a mcdonalds but… well. shu doesn’t elaborate. ]

If there was a grocery store nearby we could at least sneak into the kitchens and cook our own stuff, but until whoever’s bubbled us in this area decides we can have some more cage space to run around in we’re shit out of luck.

And that's probably not coming until we have teams locked in and we're in the game. [ so that's annoying. ] The rules said teams get housing, but I'm starting to think it also means teams get more space to go outside of this city. There's probably a bunch of restaurants and grocery stores just out of reach.

So until we figure all that out, we’re just doing the equivalent of pressing a sad hand to the glass separating us from utopia.

[ well, utopia’s a strong word and the look on his face says he knows it. ]

We're pretty much right where they want us at this rate. [ he comes back with his coffee and he settles in a seat nearby. ]

Have you started figuring it all out yet?

Don’t know anyone well enough to know if I want to trust them with my apparent chance at revival.

Yeah. Yeah, that's where a lot of us are. It's hard to trust a bunch of strangers with our lives when we only have a few days to figure it out. Like..."hey, which of these people annoyed you the least? Better go with them."

I've met people who have one person in mind, but nobody with a solid team yet.

There are people here who know each other too, right? Gives a few people one headache less than those of us who don't know anyone.

[ he says to a dude who knows someone here. ]

Still. Flip it around, and those of us who don't know anyone don't have any weird responsibility guilt forcing us to pick that person. [ he looks thoughtful. ] Wonder how people are deciding who they have in mind. Pin powers? Vibes?

Well, maybe not by much. Those people who know people here probably have a different problem of trying to pick teammates that suit both them and the people they know.

[ he says, facing that problem himself. ]

I'm not so sure everyone who knows someone here will pick the person they're familiar with either. So...vibes, probably? Pin powers doesn't make a whole lot of sense when we're still learning how to use them. [ and when so many of them have the same ones, but it's fine. ]

Yeah, well. Ten of you have healing, nine of you have drift aura, whatever that is. That's almost half the people on the data app stuck in two niches.

[ cowabummer. ]

If you're gonna be logical, healers should be one per team. But I doubt it'll work out like that.

Yeah, the spread wasn't very well thought-out... [ he says, as a drift aura user. ]

You'd think that'd be logical, but there's also a chance that the people with healing might resist using it at all even for their teammates if they don't get along.

[ yes, yes, their fates are tied together but never underestimate the power of spite in some people. ]

[ i love this spread of abilities. ] No kidding. Wonder what the criteria for it all was.

Maybe between team loyalty and spite healing, everyone will get what they need. [ wonderful. ]

You think there was a criteria and it wasn't just coincidence somehow? [ he hadn't put much thought into it. ]

We'll have to wait and see. Not like the teams will be a secret after they're picked.

I don't know, I didn't pick them. If there was a criteria, then it's busted. If there wasn't, then it's just funny.

Can't say I disagree with that. [ it is funny, it's fine. they suffer for our choices. ]

At least we'll know what we're up against. You know, with knowing teams and having those profiles. It makes it harder to keep some secrets.

Not sure yet. [ he'll be honest about it. ] I don't have anything to hide, but I don't trust that other people don't.

There's lots of shady people around. Doesn't hurt to keep important things close to your chest.

Which I think is exactly what a shady person would also say?

Good to know. [ it helps form an impression of shu, at least. ] I'd rather people be upfront about that kind of thing.

Not everyone wants to share every aspect of their life. Not immediately.

[ me saying this like he’s a locked fort when he’s actually pretty reasonable about talking about himself. crow makes him look buzen gou levels of open. ]

You can usually tell. And the situation might change things.

I think there's a line between being shady and being open that isn't sharing every single aspect. [ selective sharing is real, and he practices it daily. also that comparison is so much becks. ]

I'm getting the feeling we'll have to be at least a little more open with our teammates whether we want to be or not. That's all.

Depends on if there’s the scent of something illegal about it too. [ money laundering. murder. y’know. also i’m not wrong. no one is as shady as crow. ]

Selectively, sure. But, yeah. There are some things it doesn’t make sense to hide from people you’re around all the time.

Do you think anything even counts as illegal here? It's not like there're cops watching us either. [ like shu has a point, but he has to wonder. ]

And it comes back to "can you trust your teammates with those selective things."

… Guess we’ll find out as we end up doing illegal stuff. They’ve already told us we’re kangaroo courting when people get “erased”, so that’s something.

Yeah. That’s why less than a week to decide is an interesting choice. [ “interesting”. “sadistic”. potato, poh-tah-to. ]
